Rodney Castle

Located on the planet Delaya in the Alderaan system, Rodney Castle has been home to the House of Rodney for nearly a millennia. The original structure dates back nearly a millennia to the time when the Rodney family was a small noble house in the province of Islip. The Castle was expanded greatly by Lord Germanicus Rodney, following his rise in status to Duke of Delaya. In the centuries since, the Dukes and Duchesses of Delaya have expanded the structure to cover most of the original cliff the Castle was first built upon.

The Castle includes numerous rooms and state of the facilities. Museum quality works of art garnish every room, and portraits and sculptures of past generations of Rodneys. Beneath the structure is the ancient catacombs where members of the Rodney family have been laid to rest since the beginning.

Currently, the Castle serves as both the private residence of the Duke and Duchess of Delaya, as well as the seat of government for Delaya's planetary authority.

House of Rodney

The House of Rodney is one of the oldest and most respected families in the Alderaan Sector. The family first reached prominence eight centuries before the Battle of Yavin, when Germanicus Rodney, a commoner, married Lady Agrippina Aldrete. Linked to the nobility through marriage, Germanicus established the House of Rodney and gained control of a seat on the High Council of Alderaan. When Germanicus’ brother, Britannicus, married Lady Livilla Thul, the House of Rodney became one of the sector’s most influential families virtually overnight.

Germanicus vied for power in the sector, competing with the powerful Organa and Antilles families. When the current Viceroy died suddenly with no heir, a power vacuum soon enveloped the sector. The Jedi Order, eager to resolve the crisis, sent the venerable JedI Master Yiddo to mediate a resolution. After a tense arbitration, Yiddo ruled in favor of the House of Antilles, whom he judged had the strongest claim to the throne. To pacify the increasingly contentious Germanicus, the Dukedom of Delaya was established and the titled was granted to the House of Rodney.

In the centuries that followed their rise, the House of Rodney has flourished. The current patriarch of the family is Lord Julius Rodney, who holds the title of Duke of Delaya. His marriage to Livia Merian produced two sons: Claudius and Marcus.

As the eldest son, Claudius holds the title of Viscount of Islip, the title held by the family prior to the establishment of the Dukedom. His marriage to the late Lady Julia Reln produced two daughters: Jelena and Drusilla. In addition, the couple adopted Ewwiekewwieikkie, the daughter of family friends killed during the Confederacy’s occupation of Skor II during the Clone Wars.

The House of Rodney crest consists of a majestic common thranta soaring through the sky. Their motto is: “Those who stop to rest on their laurels end up lying on thorns.”
